CONCORDIA EMERITI PROFESSOR RECEIVES AWARD
Dr. Stanley Iverson, professor emeriti of Classical Studies at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn., was honored with the American Classical League’s Meritus Award. This award is presented annually to classicists in recognition of their sustained and distinguished service to ACL and the profession at large.
Iverson has been teaching for more than 45 years at both the high school and university levels. He has taught Latin language literature, Roman history, Greek, scientific terminology and mythology. He also has been involved in the early development of computer-assisted teaching, Web-based teaching materials and he organized the formation of Latin Days at Concordia.
Iverson has attended every ACL Institute since the 1980’s. He has served on both the Finance and Program committees and has been nominated for both Treasurer and President. He has been Treasurer of the National Committee for Latin and Greek and now serves as its chairperson. He has also been active in several local, state and national associations and received several awards over the years.
Concordia College is a four-year liberal arts college of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America offering 78 majors, including 18 honors majors, and 12 preprofessional programs.
